Taming the serpent

why i'm starting a blog

documenting my anthroposophical journey.

1,679 words

For those who are curious to listen:

Hey, my name is Anthony Nguyen, and I’m building this personal blog to document my own journey related to anthroposophy.

I feel being able to share my thoughts on my early spiritual experiences, in both an authentic and vulnerable way, can be uplifting for those who may be experiencing a similar or strange journey.

Especially for those who may feel misunderstood or alone in these spiritual matters. Myself included.

With the abundance of spiritual figures, books, and content in this modern ‘New Age’, there are some of us in this hidden corner who desire something completely different.

This is the very gift of spiritual science that Rudolf Steiner, and many others, have given people like us: A concrete path to the mysteries of the spiritual world. The same mysteries that we have understood before birth.

This blog is a space for those who yearn for such mysteries during these confusing times. Just like myself.

Not to necessarily guide or teach, but to create a place where people can feel a little inspired, or feel that they belong.

Overall, I just want to be an example of a person whose growing, along with their ideas and work, in real time.

If this somehow resonates with you, then this blog may be for you (and you may continue reading on).

If not, that is perfectly okay.

Thank you everyone for your time.

crossing my own threshold

I am currently in the middle of what is known in Theosophy and Anthroposophy as “crossing the threshold.”

This is both a type of realm and a condition where consciousness splits apart, and is frequently exposed to its lower nature: its negative thoughts, feelings, and willpower that is unredeemed, along with its fears, doubts, and hates (doppelgänger).

Every spiritual person, and every person to an extent is having their own threshold experience where they are confronted with wherever they are not free.

However personally, this difficult experience is more concentrated in my life, even though this wasn’t a choice.

I only share this because despite me wanting to build an audience, I still have so many questions, struggles, and flaws that I am still figuring out.

I’m even still young (turning 21) and have yet to truly grow up.

What right does a 21 year old have to share his thoughts on these mature matters?

I don’t know!

I’m just here, on my own mundane human journey.

I hope my blog can reflect this journey, and motivate those who have one similar to mine.

Even if there are times I can’t be active on this blog, I hope I will be able to fulfill that goal each time I can.

Little, by little.

(Note: will talk more of this soon)

spiritual topics

These are the spiritual topics that I’d like––or at least aspire––to touch upon in my blog, as I study and experience them more in my life.

Yes some of these topics are personally more idealistic than others, but my soul is compelled to do so.

Though I’d also love to make content on whatever topics my friends or audience asks for, especially ones that are more grounded. So if I have anything valuable to say about a topic of interest, please ask me to write about it, I’ll be happy to do so!

With that said, this is an early or general outline of what I will be writing about:

  • Encountering the guardian of the threshold, the specific struggles that come with them, and the specific transformations that can be attained

  • Initiation science; aspiring toward the consciousness soul, and manas; our spirit-self or future-self

  • Spiritual judgement, or discernment in this ‘New Age;’ interacting with higher knowledge safely without deception

  • Understanding our own human biography or story, in context to the present, past, and future

  • Cultures, world-cultures, their potential roles, and how to renew them (through Christ)

  • Developing our own personal language of the spirit, or distinct spiritual worldview to uncover our own mysteries in this time

  • Spiritualizing our arts, architecture, or design, specifically for a better culture

Along with other general topics such as healing, Esoteric Christianity, moral development, occult anatomy, and spiritual cosmology as a whole. There will be more added to this list as I grow, and if people ask me for them.

None of the ideas that I convey are new, nor my own, but of the ideas of many people before me, around me, and ahead of me, in which we all similarly but distinctly convey.

I believe real knowledge is relational, and no matter our age, experience, or upbringing, we can start building a living relationship with these truths, today. Such a relationship shall lead us to uncover more mysteries about ourselves, and the world!

For now, this work that I have conveyed here is very aspirational.

But soon, we all must lay our own seeds.

Here, I’m starting to lay my own.

current work and research (”memoria sophia”)

in memoria,
revenimus.

we return,
in memory.

Skim or skip through this if you’re not too interested.

The ideas that I’m sharing here, which is still ongoing, will serve as an introduction to my specific work and research in spiritual science.

This is not to rewrite anything in anthroposophy, but to explore a specific angle that I feel compelled to build my work and projects on. Albeit only being an ongoing work-in-progress that will take years and decades to come into fruition.

This work is not to force readers to adopt my specific worldview. My role is only to uncover another worldview that I’ve yet seen developed as thoroughly as I believe it should be.

We each have our own spiritual mysteries that we must uncover for ourselves and the world, in which may already relate to the specific struggles that we wrestle with.

This is just my attempt in doing so, while also empowering everybody to do the same under the name of ever-evolving spiritual science! Now to continue.

My work is heavily directed towards the mysteries of memory, and how the impulses of memory contribute towards the development of humanity and human culture. In relation to the present, past, and future in which we live in.

The mysteries of memory can also be seen as the mysteries of time. Or as Rudolf Steiner would have already put it, it is us as humanity becoming conscious of where we are in our in our 7-fold world evolution. However, my work aspires to be much more specific than this.

Specifically so that I aspire to unveil one of the faces of Sophia for our time: Memoria.

Just like there is a Sophianic being named “Natura,” or of the material world, “Memoria” is the Sophianic being of memory.

This being is the very memory being who inspires this felt-memory and physical-memory of who we are as human-spirit beings. It is a living impulse (memory impulse) in which we all can access now, and access as we reach closer to the spiritual world.

This is anthropo-memoria, or memoria-sophia: human memory, or memory wisdom.

This type of memory goes beyond mere remembrance.

It is about memorization.

It is about coming together with ourselves (”I”), our culture (”We”), and our world (”All”). This relates to the three higher egos in anthroposophy (spirit-self, life-spirit, and spirit-human) which represent our true eternal nature that lies within the future.

In actuality, memory can also be viewed as harmony.

And my work aims to gather these human and cultural members, and help realize this archetype of memory and harmony. Whether they are through books, the arts, or real societal projects. Collaborative projects where we contribute our very own mystery and impulse towards real-physical causes. This is to help us come together in the physical world, and the spiritual world.

Harmony is memory.

And real memory is harmony.

Memoria under Sophia (and Christ) is that which harmonizes us.

In memoria, revenimus.

moving into the future (what to expect)

If you have read up until this point, thank you for allowing me to share a little about myself.

I am still a work-in-progress, and I can’t promise that I’ll be totally active during these struggling times.

But I hope this blog can slowly be a place where you can be empowered in your own spiritual scientific journey.

After this post, expect a very long article on “crossing the threshold” which I believe is very helpful to anybody who is experiencing challenging spiritual times in their lives. This explores the specific facts, symptoms, and results that can be experienced during our journey into the spiritual world. If it’s not out yet, you can check it out on my site here.

For the upcoming future, I’ll be blogging on my personal website (”memoirs”) as well. Over there I’ll be sharing more intimate things about my journey where free subscribers can see in their inbox, and in general will serve as an archive (just in case Substack gets deleted haha). But of course I’ll be sharing on “our memory.”

I’ll also be building my new public Discord which serves as a space for people to share their experiences and ideas related to spiritual science. If you’d like to come and hang out, I welcome you to join!

With that said, I appreciate you for being here.

If you are comfortable, I invite you to share a comment, or even send a message, briefly sharing who you are, or your own spiritual journey.

I would seriously love to get to know everyone, especially since I’m new here!

Anyways, thank you so much for your time.

To end this post appropriately:

come to understand ‘I’ and ‘other’,
so we can understand ‘other’ in ‘I’.

as ‘We.’
as ‘All.’

‘All is ‘I’!
