"Redeeming the Soul of Egypt"

Sharing The New Hermopolis Project.

616 words

I briefly wanted to share an almost obscure promotional video on this cultural project called the “New Hermopolis Project,” built by Mervat Nasser in Egypt.

The task of this project is to build a place for community, education, and sustainable tourism to allow people to learn about themselves and the world through the revival of Ancient Egyptian philosophy and life. You can read more about this project in the related resources section.

I’m sharing this post for those who are interested, just like me, in creating societal projects, specifically through community and people, at the aims of transforming our culture as a whole.

I believe there should be many more real-world places where people of all ages can gather together and commune, in ways that’s both intellectually stimulating and spiritually nourishing. Unfortunately today there is hardly any of that. However, this is what this project is doing.

Feel free to check out the video, and the website of this project.

Regaining the wisdom of Egypt

New Hermopolis 04

The New Hermopolis is an attempt to revive an ancient wisdom city from Ancient Egypt.

Hermopolis the city of Hermes, (Thoth) the lord of wisdom and knowledge in the Greek language.

This is the rebirth of a tradition that has been buried in the sand for so long.

Originally Hermopolis was in Ashmooneen near our present site in Toona El Gabal where it was regarded in ancient Egypt as the center of the universe, the birth point where the universe was created from the main elements; wind, earth, fire and water.

Ancient Egyptians had always paired all values, in both male and female values, so the four elements where male and female is called Ashmooneen as Shemno is the number eight in the Kemetian language, and it is regarded as the location where all pairs are made into one.

The attempt of Dr Mervat to revive this cultural heritage is a deep excavation into the Egyptian identity and self image, the real core of the Egypt’s beautiful achievements.

Through the lectures and theatrical shows, Dr Mervat managed to plant a seed and changed the mentality of a community that was long dormant and stale.

Universe in human (as above, so below)

New Hermopolis 01

Hermeticism is the beginning of Sophism, as it is only through knowledge that you transcend.

The more you acquire higher knowledge, the closer you get to your lost heavenly part of yourself, lost when heaven was separated.

Earth: you become more human.

The concept here is humanizing the universe.

This place, the New Hermopolis is giving a chance for normal people to redefine themselves; the possibility to redefine one’s identity; to redefine their community.

This is ‘social alchemy,’ based on the idea of self metamorphosis: the process of constant self transformation.

Simply, the divine individual will achieve the metamorphosis and redefine the ego.

New Hermopolis 02

It is an attempt to regain the lost soul, like the idea of the Netro Neema Twelve: the lady who redeemed what Egypt Kemmet has lost.

Her task was the concept of “Redemption.” What is lost is the soul of Egypt.

This place is trying to redeem the soul of Ancient Egypt within agriculture, architecture, plants and birds.

Especially the reintroduction of the almost extinct blue Lotus Flower

New Hermopolis 03

The Blue Lotus is related to the rebirth Mythology of Ancient Egypt as it dies out at night and sinks underwater, then opens up in the morning, every day.
